And the Gold Keeps Coming

I just got a voice-mail message telling me that someone else has posted another huge capture of a CRC/Recall message board, in the comments section under the post titled "Three Letters." It seems to contain stuff that was not in some of the others we have gotten. I don't when it was posted there.

This is weird.

Normally these groups operate in secrecy. This particular cell, known as Recall or CRC, set out to take over the Montgomery County school board back in November 2004. Usually you don't get to see what they're up to. But here they are, working the churches, working the politicians, working the lawyers, arranging their meetings and hustling their newspaper and radio people. Rules about what to say and how to say it. How not to look like a Neanderthal. How not to look like a homophobe. How not to look like a religious nut.

It is fascinating to watch how this works. And people, listen -- this is happening all over the country. These sneaky groups are planning things. One day you'll wake up and wonder what happened to your community. Well, look under "Three Letters," or under "'Frivolous Lawsuit' Defined" -- where I started out by deleting the messages but was talked into putting it back. Look at the way these people organize to pull the rug out from under you. Oh, it's insidious, yes it is, and it requires contant Vigilance.

Afterall....

Gazette article 1/12/05

The site on which the comments were posted, www.recallmontgomeryschoolboard.com, is monitored by a Damascus-based group called Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum. CRC members who attended the meeting denied that anyone from their group posted the comments or threats.

"We're just moms," member Michelle Turner of Kensington said. Other members speculated that someone outside their group posted the comments on their site adding to CRC's already negative image, they said.

Dear Anonymous,

I don't know if I am addressing you in the singular or in the plural, but I don't know what you are trying to say in your comments to this post or the last post. You have posted excerpts from the cache of CRC emails and from the CRC website without making any comments of your own. I do not know what point you are trying to make.

I have read all of the lengthy CRC emails and I am familiar with the CRC website, so I have already read the material that you have posted. What is of interest to me is your take on the material, but you have not offered that.

I am respectfully requesting that comments to the blog be actual comments. I certainly think that excerpts from the CRC are valuable material, but please use them in the context of your own thoughts and opinions. Either put them up and comment on them, or use them to illustrate your point. Thank you.

Let's just say in an open blog.....people can post material without any comment. That is why they are open blogs with open comments whether it is a personal opinion or other.

I don't know if you've noticed, Anon honey, but the vast majority of this blog is thoughtful commentary and analysis of the issues related to the attack by religious *nuts* on the health education curriculum in MCPS. It is not just a blog where people "post material without any comment" otherwise known as spamming.

If you'd like to make such a blog, feel free. You can start one very easily at www.blogger.com. -Alex- was nice enough to start his own blog when there were complaints about his language here and he's cleaned up his language a lot for the readers here too. (Thanks, kid!)

But please, do us all a favor, Anon. Do not debase this blog by spamming it to death with some or all of the thousands of lines of the old cached material, over and over again. Regular readers like me find your spamming to be discomforting and completely out of character for this fine blog.
