The Show is Cancelled

This just in. The Citizens Link TV show, which was originally planning to showcase the Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum and then decided to balance the show, has now announced that they have cancelled that segment. There is now an announcement on the show's web site that says:
Notice From The Producers

August 15, 2005

This notice is to inform our viewers that it is with great regret, we have decided to cancel the Citizens Link to Community Awareness, Show #11, entitled "Health Education, Where Do We Go From Here?"

We wish to thank all our members for their hard work in preparing for this show, our hope was to build awareness of the upcoming new Health & Family Life Curriculum for MCPS students, by inviting guests with different special knowledge and experience.

Unfortunately, after only hours of posting our intended guest line up on the Citizens Link website, we began to receive email attacks to both our program and our volunteer Host. Because our focus on the show is to build stronger families and community through information and awareness, our goal was beginning to be lost.

Conflict of guest scheduling and cancellations has placed a tremendous strain on our resources. We wish to express our deepest apologies for any inconvenience.

I'll tell you what, people, you wouldn't believe the number of phone calls and emails that have blown around the old Internet this afternoon, about this. Lots of it is very informative -- different people are bringing us different parts of the story, and I think we're seeing the big picture.

Unfortunately, some of it is still hearsay at this point, so I'm going to zip it.

Aw, I gotta say something, I can't stand it.

No, zip it.

So there was no problem with the show going forward as long as it was one sided with only CRC and PFOX reps. But "attacks to both our program and our volunteer host" (who attacked and how?) and "conflict of guest scheduling and cancellations" (who had conflict and who cancelled?) have resulted in the cancellation of the show.

A one-sided show was "approved." Then, after upset Montgomery County tax paying citizens contacted the station to urge the powers that be to ensure the show would be truly fair and balanced, it suddenly got "cancelled."

I'm mumbling to myself too because the stink just got worse.

How could the station think that they'd
be able "to build awareness of the upcoming
new Health & Family Life Curriculum for
MCPS students" by only inviting opponents
of the revised MCPS health education
curriculum to speak?

And since when did pointing out an
imbalance
become an "attack"?

Fishy Fishy.....Seems Alice G over at Citizens Link was also quoted a bit in the Germantown Assoc fiasco where the Gazette did that story on Sharon Cox being threatened in coming to a meeting where CRC'rs would be.

First Citizens Link was willing to only have a one-sided CRC/PFOX show but yet now claims other things happened...WHEN FOLKS ASKED FOR A BALANCED SHOW.

Well get real Richard Cohen was banned

http://www.rawprint.com/besen/012504_aca_letter.php

and CRC'rs are a bunch of homophobic bigots.

So where did a show funded by tax dollars think that was okay and no one should speak up.

I have got news for Alice G over at Citizens Link...TRUTH IS NOT SLANDER.

Michelle Turner canceled after her buddy Richard Cohen was asked not to appear.

Seems that occurred after Citizens Link found out the truth about Cohen and worried about his poor feelings and not the fact he was banned for life from the American Counseling Association.

Then again that was not a big secret so what in the world was that show doing in scheduling that quack in the first place?

This thing is about as smelly as it gets and I do not believe Alice G and company over at Citizens Link have been entirely forthcoming.

I just believe they just got caught planning a one-sided show and are not happy that taxpayers caught this and demanded a balance show.

Too bad Citizens Link...taxpayers fund this..not you privately.

I don't know whether Michelle Turner, Steve Fisher, or Ruth Jacobs had a scheduling conflict or whether any of them had cancelled. I can tell you that neither Anne Kaiser nor I cancelled. We were both ready to appear.

Well now it appears that Citizens Link and Alice G could not even handle that but yet they were more than willing to parade nothing but CRC'rs and that quack Cohen in front of everyone before others (taxpayers)found out.

Just why could they not have gone forward with Fishback and Kaiser?

Fishy... Fishy....
