They Gotcha Coming and Going

I see the Montgomery Community Television show Citizen Link is going to host the radical cell that has worked so hard to undermine the public school system. Bizarre -- it's just like nothing happened. Sue the county, take their money, and then let the county promote your extremist cause for free.

Show 15 will feature Michelle Turner, Steve Fisher, and Ruth Jacobs from CRC, plus Richard Cohen, of the Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays (PFOX). No, wait, that would be PFOX-GAG, they must just mean Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays. (Because ... we know that gay people don't consider them their friends (see LINK).)

The show's web site has links to some PR stuff on each of them. Ms. Turner's name links to a profile on her at the Mormon-based United Families International web site, telling about how wonderfully her lawsuit went and how nice the Parents and Friends of Ex-Gays and Gays are. Great quote from Ms. Turner: "I think if we allow the liberal sex education program to happen, we will see the end of families and it will serve a tremendous blow to society."

(Please, people, pause and meditate on that statement for a moment. Liberal sex-ed ... the end of families... I hope you appreciate the profound thought that goes into something like that.)

There is also a link to the flyer for the CRC town hall hate-fest, where the various national organizations sent in their guys to whip up the anti-gay frenzy. Steve Fisher's name links to a radio interview and a blog post that links to ... the same interview.

The strangest, though, is PFOX's Richard Cohen. According to this Montgomery Community TV site, Cohen, "a psychotherapist and educator, is one of the leading experts in the field of sexual reorientation and the author" of some books.

Now, I am thinking of Montgomery Community Television as a community channel. I see they receive funding from the County Council. And I would like to think that my community is reasonable and well-informed.

I would be offended if the TV channel put somebody like Richard Cohen on with a sweet bio and no mention of the fact that he was expelled for life from the American Counseling Association for multiple ethics violation. You'd hope they'd mention that. One of two things happened here. Either Cohen sent the TV channel his bio and did not mention this very important fact (and Montgomery Community TV and host Don Mooer did absolutely no research), or he mentioned it and the TV channel covered it up. You can't tell which of these things happened, but they sure are leaving out a big ol' chunk of the truth here.

Telling the county that Richard Cohen is a psychotherapist, educator, and editor is like saying that John Wayne Gacy was a professional clown. In the field of psychotherapy, Cohen is at the bottom of the barrel. No doctorate, no scholarly publications, kicked out of the counseling association... His main professional focus, trying to convert gay people to heterosexuals, violates the policies of all mainstream medical and psychological associations. (I wondered how he got to be called an educator -- because it seemed ironic, given the campaigning that his colleagues have done to keep people like him out of the schools. Turns out he has done training for the Red Cross.)

I would be offended if my county's TV channel featured someone like the Citizens for a Responsible Curriculum and PFOX, and didn't mention that they had sued the school district capriciously, won on the basis of some background materials that were not going to be part of the curriculum anyway, brought in Jerry Falwell's legal-eagles, and then settled for lawyer's fees and undeserved membership on the citizens committee.

The story here for Montgomery County is that the elected school board was attacked by a radical minority who wanted their anti-gay and anti-safe-sex perspective inserted into the school curriculum. The curriculum was very tame by any standards. It did introduce the topic of sexual variation, as required by law, and it updated the video about condoms. But that almost didn't matter. The small group organized and established connections with national religious organizations such as the Family Research Council, Concerned Women For America, and others; they contacted Liberty Counsel, a law firm devoted to eliminating the distinction between church and state. They waited until days before the new curriculum was to be pilot-tested, then filed suit as if it were the last thing they wanted to do, though we have documentation establishing that they had begun planning it back in January. The lawsuit was full of allegations, most of which the judge rejected; his decision to issue a temporary restraining order against the school district appears to have been largely influenced by confusion in the complainants' documents about what was in the curriculum and what was in the teachers' background materials.

To tell you the truth, this makes me a little angry. This anti-MCPS group goes out on the county's television channel to promote their hateful views on the taxpayers' dollar. They take our money in the lawsuit, and they take it in free promotion on county-subsidized TV. This noisy minority of extremists set the curriculum back a year, wasted thousands of dollars and many hundreds of hours of people's time, and now they've conned the county into giving them free advertising.

I did not know this. Did you?

It is said that 86% of Americans believe in God. Therefore, it is very hard to understand why there is such a mess about having the Ten Commandments on display or "In God We Trust" on our money and having God in the Pledge of Allegiance. Why don't we just tell the other 14% to Sit Down and SHUT UP!!!

Subject: Enough of this!

My wife and I have been Montgomery County Taxpayers for almost 30 years and have two children who attended Montgomery Co. Schools but only until each had completed the 5th grade. That was because we were not given any opportunity to disagree nor have a meaningful say into the growing liberal bias and proactive homosexual agenda that the Board of Education was pursuing. Like your so called Sex Education program, we were told to shut up? pay our taxes and if we did not like it? "Opt out".

But this latest attempt by your liberal elitist group has finally taken the cake? While I may not have any children still in the MCPS, I as a taxpayer will for the first time become a local political activist and work to get rid of the whole lot on our current BOE every one of you! Who made you all so superior as to determine that your version of sexual activity was the "norm?" My God, did you really think you could just quietly sneak this by us all?

You do not represent the real majority of the people of Montgomery County and if the last Presidential election was not a wake up call then what will be coming next just might be! Congratulations on your giving the silent majority the incentive to finally speak up and start to do something about your self serving liberal bias!

Enough is enough!!!

Dear MCPS BOE:

Before I unfairly accused you all of the unmitigated gall to implement the reported sex education program in our schools, I wanted to get the facts straight. Well I just read the Superintendent's Memo of Novembers and Mr. Fishback's ridiculous justification for indoctrinating our children into the "joys" of homosexual experimentation and now I'm really ticked off!

I guess you all figured that by running low key hearings and meetings you could get this by the majority of county tax payers and parents without us knowing about it. I am especially incensed by your underhanded tactic of waiting until after the election before making this sex indoctrination program effective. When a large number of citizens showed up to let you know how wrong this was, you so smugly thanked the "minority" plebeians for their interest, abruptly ended public testimony and then voted unanimously to implement your liberal agenda before anymore could get wind of what you are doing.

All I have to ask you is this: Would you demonstrate this condom trick to your own children on a cucumber at the dinner table at home? I especially want to see how you try and explain to a child the reason there are "flavored condoms"? I doubt any of our illustrious board members would be so proactive with their own children; but you want me and others to pick up the tab for total strangers (who probably have a political agenda in mind) to do so while our children are at school.

I suggest that instead of giving parents the option to "opt out" of your sex ed program we should ask each of you to "opt out" of your role on our BOE and get truly objective and unbiased representation on our county school board.

I am for one am tired of you trying to cram your social reengineering and anything-goes-sexual philosophy down the taxpayers' throats! How dare you do this to our children! This instruction belongs to the parents and their religious organizations and ministers to explain as they may see best for their children. It is not what we pay our tax dollars for the county to do in our place.

I hope the recall effort now underway succeeds and sends a powerful message about who the real majority in this county truly are. If your liberal effort succeeds I am sure that Mr. Duncan and any other Democrat so inclined will thank you for adding this baggage to any anticipated run for the Governor's Office because you know it will be a major campaign issue. Whether you want to realize it or not? Maryland is beginning to turn a shade of purple.

Is Ruth Jacobs going to demonstrate "swirlys" for Citizen Links

I am an infectious disease physician and was named as one of the top
doctors in Washington, DC by Washingtonian Magazine July 2005.

It was reported that in the CRC/PFOX settlement proceedings the Montgomery
County public school system refused to agree to explain the risks of oral
and rectal sex to their students.

Recently a MCPS graduate, while babysitting, entertained the children with
a “SWIRLY”. As described a “SWIRLY” is performed having the child place
his head in the toilet and flushing it. This was accompanied by much
excitement, laughing and the joy of a new sensation. While most of us
cringe at the thought of putting our head in a toilet!!!!, this did not
seem to bother the group dynamics!!!!. . However the next week the
child came down with a vomiting illness!!!!

Before Louis Pasteur and improvement in sanitation practices, sanitary
related illnesses such as Cholera and typhoid fever claimed many victims.
By one report 50 percent of the children died by age 5. We all know to
wash our hands after going to the bathroom. Organism such as salmonella,
campylobacter, shigella. amoeba, hepatitis A, B and C, Giardia, and so
forth are transmitted via exposure to stool/rectal Sex and have an
increased incidence in men who have sex with men.

Teaching about homosexuality and rectal sex at the public school may be
just a fun as a “SWIRLY”, but all fun is relative, and we must teach that
there are risks of both fecal pathogens and sexually transmitted diseases
with rectal sex.

Consequences can be much more serious than a few days of vomiting illness.
HIV transmission is increased by 20 fold with rectal sex.

These risks must be taught

Ruth M Jacobs, M.D.

what kind of show is this? Is it like Bill O'Reilly local version?
Michele Turner thinks sex education is the end of families? . Oh, Michele-in those great states with abstinence only education(or non- education)- what is the divorce rate, the spousal abuse rate, the teen pregnancy rate, the STD rate- looks like your theory is so wrong - education doesn't destroy families- education just helps eliminate ignorance, fear and hatred. Scary, huh?

What does Don Mooer know about these people-did he listen to the hatefest tapes? Is he a homophobe? Maybe a proponent of fake therapy? -cause I'd like to perform psychic surgery on TV if he is- just need to get a few chicken parts and work on my sleight of hand.

I swear, I'm going to have a seizure over all of this.

These psychopathic people are going to make me snap.

They should be more modest. Instead of pointing out other peoples' so-called "faults", they should concentrate on becoming good people.

Like, people that don't disciminate against good people just because of some sci-fi novel.

FYI - Ruth M. Jacobs is a train wreck - not sure what her post-lesbian agenda is but she needs professional counseling in a MAJOR way.
