Ruth Jacobs Testifies In DC

Oh, man, you've got to see this. The president of the Citizens for Responsible Government went over to DC to testify about their same-sex marriage bill.

A lot of our readers live in distant parts of the country, even distant parts of the world, and you don't get to see, day after day, the kind of people we are up against here. Here you go, this is their leader.

Thanks to our old friend Alvin McEwen for sending this link to the TTF Yahoo group.

Really, you gotta watch this video. LINK HERE

TRENTON, N.J. – Chris Christie, an aggressive former prosecutor who racked up a perfect conviction rate in public corruption cases and became the darling of New Jersey's Republican Party establishment, has unseated Democratic Gov. Jon Corzine.

Christie, 47, on Tuesday became the first member of his party in a dozen years to win a statewide contest in heavily Democratic New Jersey. President Barack Obama invested heavily in the race, campaigning with Corzine five times on three separate visits.

Jim noted:

“The president of the Citizens for Responsible Government went over to DC to testify about their same-sex marriage bill.”

Someone should let Ruth know that AIDS is caused by a virus, not by two gay men having sex.

Two gay married men could have sex all day long and they would never get AIDS, unless one of them was already infected.

In Germany, a 26-year old pop star (Nadja Benaissa) was arrested for allegedly infecting 3 men with HIV.
http://www.smh.com.au/lifestyle/people/pop-star-arrested-for-spreading-aids-20090415-a6oo.html

It would be a sad irony if all the focus put on AIDS and gay sex by the homophobe agenda folks resulted in young people thinking that AIDS is just a “gay” disease, and it spread further in the hetero community.

Have a nice day,

Cynthia

Too bad Ruth Jacobs has never been married, especiallly married to a gay person trying to live as a straight person. If she had more direct knowledge about the harm living in the closet causes marriages -- to unsuspecting spouses and children -- she'd support marriage equality.

There's an interesting article in today's WaPo A quiet voice for gay marriage: Legalization could avert doomed relationships, straight ex-spouses say, that reports:

"...As the debate over legalizing same-sex marriage in the District grows louder and more polarized, there are people whose support for the proposal is personal but not often talked about. They are federal workers and professionals, men and women who share little except that their former spouses tried to live as heterosexuals but at some point realized they could not.

Many of these former spouses -- from those who still feel raw resentment toward their exes to those who have reached a mutual understanding -- see the legalization of same-sex marriage as a step toward protecting not only homosexuals but also heterosexuals. If homosexuality was more accepted, they say, they might have been spared doomed marriages followed by years of self-doubt..."

Three witnesses to the effects of intolerance toward gays and their marriage equality -- a woman who was married for 31 years to a gay man, an author, and a therapist -- all share their insights.

Thanks to Emproph for your transcription of Ruth's testimony in DC on marriage equality. Your transcript confirmed she really did say what I thought I heard her say:

"...Dr. Jacobs: No, I am an infectious disease in Rockville Maryland...

That's one disease I sincerely hope will be cured.

I noticed that too, Aunt Bea. What an appropriate "misstatement."

"Dr Jacobs: The anus was designed for exit, not entrance."

So does she tell her patients to swallow suppositories?

"CRC had terrific representation by Dr Jacobs"

She didn't do a terrific job with her testimony against the DC same-sex marriage bill. The committee that heard her testimony approved the bill today. The DC Council will take it up next month.

"A DC Council Committee voted 4 to 1 this afternoon to send a bill legalizing same-sex marriage to the full council for debate.

Council member Phil Mendelson, chairman of the Committee on Public Safety and Judiciary, said the legislation was "both simple and monumental."

With the committee vote, the full council will take up the bill in early December. It is expected to easily pass.

"We will get this to the mayor and Congress and it will become law," said Council member Jack Evans (D-Ward 2).

Council member Yvette Alexander (D-ward 7) was the only member to vote against the bill in committee."
